Job Summary
According to established policies and procedures, cleans and sanitizes patient rooms and baths, offices, furnishings, and all other building areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital.
Performs a variety of environmental service duties such as, but not limited to, mopping and waxing floors, dust, empty trash, scour and polish bath tubs, sinks, mirrors, replenish soap and towels, mop walls, keep utility rooms in order, arrange supplies, sweep floors, and vacuum.
Job Specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have the ability to read, write, and follow simple oral instructions.
Requires a high school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must know how to use common housecleaning devices such as brooms, mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads, to keep areas clean and well-serviced.
Must know how to care for equipment, how to measure cleaning solutions and be alert to hazards.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
A preference for routine, repetitive activities in dealing with things and objects are necessary.
Ability to perform a variety of housecleaning functions under specific instructions and with very little need for individual judgement in working out problems.
Adapted to repetitive cleaning operations continuously throughout the workday despite frequent interruptions.
Ability to keep all patient and employee information confidential.
Ability to work alone and with very little supervision.
Must have the ability to work with a variety of people of diverse populations (e.
g.
cultural diversity, ages from infant through geriatrics, hearing impaired, physical and mental disabilities, and variety of educational and cognitive levels).
