Responsibilities:
Provides technical assistance in the associated workplace settings (public school classrooms, community-based childcare settings, and home childcare settings) to apply educational best practices, and culturally responsive family engagement partnership strategies.
Serves as a practicum/student teacher supervisor for diverse preservice teacher candidates in WIU School of Education pathways for incumbent workforce and MAT.
Team with and work directly with School of Education faculty, as well as other department faculty who serve the Early Childhood Degree Pathways to assist in the success of parent mentors and diverse workforce members in their courses.
Keeps up-to-date on educational best practices, advocacy points of interest, legislation, and endorsement information through attending workshops, meetings, and conferences as suggested/directed by their direct supervisor/assigned project director.
Keeps up-to-date on scholarship and opportunities for incumbent workers, “grow your own” teaching candidates, nontraditional students, and BIPOC educators, and helps students access appropriate opportunities.
Coordinate communication and dissemination of important information as well as complete necessary paperwork, as well as maintain web-based communication and information.
Works collaboratively with Early Childhood and other necessary stakeholders, including state agencies and their grantees as designated by their direct supervisor/assigned project director.
Participates in statewide committees related to diverse workforce and families, and/or education policy and practices as directed by the Project Director.
Collaborate with other LSNA related teams and projects, including other LADDERS and Parent Mentor programs across the state of Illinois.
Develops curriculum for Gateways and CDA related trainings and serves as a coordinator for credentialing pathways.
Responds to requests for information and potential partnerships.
Maintains records and write reports
Assists in recruitment
Attend all necessary meetings related to the WIU Parent Mentor and/or WIU Ladders Grants as requested.
Assists in grant writing as related to the incumbent workforce
Serves as supervisor for practicums and student teaching
Works on and assists with the development of model videos for Gateways competencies and related educational standards
Required Qualifications:
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER:
A Master’s degree in Early Childhood, ESL/Bilingual Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, Social Work, or Educational Leadership
At least three (3) years (36 months) working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel, including some overnight stays
Starting Salary: $3,368 /Monthly
