Bar Manager/Head Bartender

*NIGHT CAP SOCIAL CLUB OPERATIONS MANAGER* *About Night Cap * Night Cap at the Capitol is a unique social club offering specialty cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktails, whiskey, beer, and wine along with simple bar snacks while creating a listening experience for its patrons with live and recorded music.
Instead of background music, patrons are encouraged to have a conversation with the musicians and/or music host as part of the social experience.
The entertainment portion is scheduled by Capitol staff so the Operations Manager will need to work closely with staff to create specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails that coordinate with the music or event.
In addition to regular hours, Night Cap will be open before and after most live entertainment events and movies.
*Job Description and Skills * The Night Cap Operations Manager will ensure the club is always running smoothly by overseeing its day-to-day operations.
It will be the Operations Managers responsibility to maintain a safe and fun environment for employees and customers alike.
The Operations Manager will oversee many different aspects of the business, making written and verbal communication skills vitally important.
Written communication skills will assist the club manager with understanding directions from the Capitol Theater Executive Director.
Verbal communication skills are crucial as the Operations Manager will need to develop working relationships with employees, customers, Capitol Theater personnel, and co-management.
The Operations Manager’s ability to problem solve will be essential in the position.
It will be the role of the Operations Manager to diffuse conflict within the club.
This will require developed problem-solving skills that allow the Operations Manager to effectively handle conflict in a way that works for both the customer and staff.
The Operations Manager leadership skills will assist them in effectively leading the club in a way that is productive and organized for other staff and customers.
*Operations Manager Job Responsibilities* * Initiates and maintains vendor relationships to maintain inventory.
* Selects and purchases liquor and other supplies to ensure bar is stocked and clean.
* Creates drink and food menus and maintains drink recipe documentation.
* Hires, trains, promotes, and takes appropriate disciplinary action of club employees which can include warnings, suspension, or termination.
Determines employees’ schedules to ensure enough staff during peak hours.
* Oversees staff, including bartenders and barbacks, and, in some cases, bouncers, wait staff, and/or kitchen staff as well.
* Works with the Board, Executive Director, and staff in planning for special events including drink specials and specialty cocktails.
* Assist in marketing, including social media and other forms of publicity.
* Maintain a clean, efficiently functioning and inviting environment.
* Maintain liquor licensing and ensure that staff are following local and state law.
requirements and proper alcohol distribution regulations.
* Uses point-of-sale tracking technology and bar and restaurant management platforms, including tracking customer behavior and sales.
*Hours and Wages* The Night Cap Operations Manager will need to be available during determined operations hours and for special events, which will primarily be on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, but may include other days of the week.
The hours will be approximately 20 to 30 hours per week.
Wages will be between $17 and $22 per hour and will be determined by past work experience and skills.
*Education and Experience * A high school degree, GED, or equivalent is required.
The preferred Operations Manager candidate will have at least two years history in a similar industry including past bar or restaurant experience.
Supervisory experience preferred.
