PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES: Designs and implements safety programs and recommends ways to improve health and safety in the facility.
Stays up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations.
Conducts safety training for employees regarding required OSHA topics and other health and safety procedures.
Conducts audits, identifies health and safety hazards and develops corrective actions Coaches supervisors on recognition of safety hazards and employee interaction to eliminate safety exposures.
Creates and presents reports detailing health and safety issues to management team.
Fields inquiries from employees about proper safety procedures.
Responds to on-site emergencies and accidents.
Investigates on-the-job accidents and writes up reports.
Identifies hazards or faults that caused the accident and devises strategic plan to remedy those problems.
Monitors work place on a daily basis to ensure all activity meets safety compliance.
OSHA and Worker Compensation Management JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational or Industrial Safety or related field is required.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of OHSA guidelines.
Demonstrates strong leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills and attention to detail, proficiency in computer skills to include, MS Office and database management.
Communicates details of safety procedures clearly to employees.
Exhibits ability to think practically and creatively to implement the best safety practices.
Responds quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.
Exercises caution and alertness at all times.
Ability to work across functional departments to promote safety culture throughout the facility and awareness to reduce exposures.
