Janitor

Job Summary: The janitor is responsible for general cleaning duties and stocking of supplies as assigned in the facility.
This may include restrooms, breakrooms, offices, conference rooms and main aisles of production areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sweep and mop floors; dust and wipe down specified areas.
Empties and disposes of trash in assigned areas.
Cleans and disinfects restrooms.
Wipe out and cleans microwaves.
Monitors and stocks supplies for restrooms and breakrooms.
Reports and/or requests maintenance on items that require repair.
Runs floor sweeper in main aisles.
Cleans areas and responds to emergent needs in areas that may be contaminated with blood and/or body fluids.
Complies with safety regulations and maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Adheres to and supports 5S + 1 principles.
Adheres to and supports the ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills: High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous janitorial experience or experience in a related role preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to work in either location, Macomb or Colchester, and may rotate to the different locations as assigned by the maintenance supervisor or his designee.
Must be able to operate a mechanical floor sweeper.
For safety, performance, and productivity, must be able to read, write and speak English and follow verbal and written instructions.
Must have the ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions and routinely make independent decisions.
Must be able to read and interpret instructions, labels, and hazard symbols.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use measuring instruments; read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders, and engineered drawings.
Ability and availability to work any shift and required overtime, which may include longer shifts and/or additional shifts in the workweek.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Physically active position requiring medium to heavy work with consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Requires pushing and pulling up to 75 lbs.

Requires being able to stand and walk for long periods of time; 98% of the shift, including overtime, requires standing and/or walking.
To perform the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, reach to, below or above shoulder level/overhead, lift, carry, push, pull and use hands and/or fingers to handle, grasp, manipulate, grip and use cleaning tools.
May be required to use special equipment or chemicals to complete cleaning duties.
Essential duties and responsibilities are typically performed while standing or while intermittently sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching or stooping; requires reaching, pushing, pulling, and gripping/grasping.
Visual acuity and hand/eye coordination; requires the ability to see and hear.
Regular exposure to noise and vibration from moving machines, fumes, and occasionally airborne dust and particles.
Regular exposure to seasonal temperature changes in the work environment.
Requires steel/composite safety footwear that meets ANSI standards and safety eye protection at all times.
Hearing protection required in specified areas.
