Candidates will enter a development program beginning as a Production Shift Team Leader allowing them to understand the Production process at a deeper level and transition to a Manufacturing Process Engineer for the Department at completion of the Production Shift Team Leader role.
During time as a Production Shift Team Leader the candidate will also be assigned Process Engineering projects to allow for continued skill development as a Process Engineer and exposure to our various refining processes.
Production Shift Team Leader The Production Shift Team Leader will be responsible for supervising the bargaining unit shift of the assigned production area to ensure safe actions, environmental compliance and quality production in a Good Manufacturing Practice food-grade operation.
This position requires candidates to demonstrate excellent operational leadership, clear communication skills, strong people development and coaching abilities, and experience in nimbly managing short term activities and longer-term projects.
The Production Shift Team Leader reports to the Department Managers at Roquette America’s Keokuk plant site.
This position with 24 hr / 7 day shift work coverage is based at our Keokuk corn-wet milling and bio-refinery facility and requires interaction with both Salaried and Union workforce.
Main Responsibilities Lead shift production activities to ensure actions result in safe, compliant and quality work achieving scheduled production.
Implement or provide support for projects and programs to improve safety, compliance and quality performance.
Lead shift operations activities with clear, consistent communication.
Technical troubleshooting as needed.
Plan within the department and/or interdepartmentally to maximize efficiency.
Participate in the maintenance planning process and initiate maintenance requisitions to achieve quality and performance targets.
Plan and coordinate to assure that production is aligned with customer’s needs and that customer orders are produced and shipped right the first time.
Achieve targeted production efficiencies, yields, volumes and material usage.
Execute improvement projects for reliability, yield, and rates and/or to reduce fixed and variable costs.
Implement and maintain sound process controls through computer-controlled systems and operators.
Direct, train, and monitor on-shift employees as to the knowledge, understanding, and compliance of all policies and procedures.
Conducts regularly scheduled shift meetings and leads to inform, communicate, listen, and react to suggestions and concerns.
Develop production employees through training, coaching, evaluation and administering personal performance reviews.
Lead adherence to established policies, procedures, programs, principles, and the bargaining unit contract.
Manufacturing Process Engineer: The Manufacturing Process Engineer is primarily responsible for process optimization by leading cross-functional collaboration to manage and execute multiple optimization/continuous improvement projects including capital projects simultaneously from conception to implementation, focused on safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production output, yields, and fixed cost efficiency.
Additional responsibilities include hands-on troubleshooting of manufacturing processes for quality, environmental and production issues, and recommending and implementing solutions.
Main Responsibilities Accountable to all Roquette & site policies and procedures relating to HSE, Quality, GMP etc.
Responsible for compliance and participation in all HSE programs.
Support and align with site objectives .
Participate in site improvements initiatives and complete various audits as assigned.
Manage and execute multiple process continuous improvement and problem-solving projects simultaneously from conception through successful implementation, both independently and by leading or collaborating with cross-functional teams Manages, executes and performs engineering assignments, PxB/CAPEX either stand alone or as a significant portion of a larger capital, expense or process improvement projects Leads interface with vendors, contractors and consultants on project matters.
Provide technical expertise in the science and practical operation of processes.
For example, focus on corn steeping technology, separation and/or evaporation processes.
Lead Operations teams in hands-on troubleshooting of the manufacturing process for moderately complex safety, environmental, quality, and production problems and recommending and implementing solutions.
Develop critical control variable process operation ranges and advanced Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and troubleshooting guides.
Develop process system engineering standards for equipment selection and modification, including block flow diagrams, PFDs, mass and energy balances, P&IDs, and other process documentation.
Trains Operations personnel on new and/or revised equipment and process operations, both temporary and permanent.
Collaborate cross-functionally with production managers, team leaders and operators on process technical matters.
Qualifications BS Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Microbiology degree 1-3 years’ experience in a food and/or chemical continuous processing plant desired 1-3 years leadership and/or supervisory experience desired Previous experience in a chemical processing plant or sugar processing plant preferred Demonstrated sound, assertive, positive leadership skills, as well as strong and effective coaching skills Demonstrated clear, informative and persuasive (verbal, written and presentation) communication skills Demonstrated experience in project execution, with project management experience preferred Effective organizational and planning skills with the demonstrated ability to multitask Working understanding of chemical unit operations of food-grade processes desired Demonstrated fundamental understanding of mechanical equipment Demonstrated experience in successful troubleshooting and problem solving facilitation skills Computer skills desired, especially Microsoft XL, Outlook, Power Point and Word If you identify yourself in this position, please apply by uploading your resume and let's start the journey together !
